Speaker: Luke Dolan - Master Energy Advisor, Capital Home Energy Inc.
This online course provides builders, trades, site supervisors, and related Part 9 stakeholders in the Kamloops region with practical, real-world training on building science fundamentals and how trade coordination directly affects Step Code and Zero Carbon performance. The session focuses on improving communication between builders, energy advisors, and key trades to reduce common installation issues, improve durability, and achieve consistent high-performance results.
Participants will learn how fundamental building-science principles—air, heat, and moisture control—interact across assemblies and where coordination often breaks down on site. The workshop also introduces the Integrated Design Process (IDP) as a practical tool for aligning teams early so performance targets are met with fewer reworks and callbacks. Regional Step Code and Zero Carbon requirements are reviewed, including how trade sequencing, envelope details, and mechanical choices impact TEDI, MEUI, and overall compliance. The session concludes with quality-control strategies and accountability practices that builders and trades can apply immediately on active projects.
